"The Vine!"
The Background & History
True Vine Christian Center was founded in the year of our Lord, 2023 in Ascension Parish, Louisiana as a body of believers followed the vision of their Pastor, Reverend Jhontre Green. Pastor Green's vision came while he was already pastoring a local, established church when Holy Spirit led him to step-out on Faith and establish a new ministry.
The first meeting of charter members was held in March of 2023 on a Zoom Video conference call. During this meeting, Pastor Green presented the vision to the people of God in a plain way; and much like Habakuk 2, the people ran with it. Thus, True Vine was berthed with 9 charter members including Pastor & First Lady Green. A few days later, the first Bible Study for True Vine was held virtually with 11 people in attendance.
We officially held our launch service on Sunday, April 9, 2023 (Resurrection Sunday) and celebrated God giving the increase with 52 members joining and 3 candidates for baptism.
The church made its first physical home inside The Vault Event Center in Geismar, Louisiana. The Vault was the location of the Official Launch Service and remained home to True Vine for seven months until we began to outgrow it. The faithfulness and fortitude of True Vine was also evident in our ability to adjust when and how needed. Due to limited access to the event center, we would also host services at the Ascension Parish Chamber of Commerce Building in Gonzales, LA. occasionally. Weekly choir rehearsals were also held at various locations including members' homes, local parks and even the Council Meeting Chambers at Gonzales City Hall. We also hosted our first Vacation Bible School in the summer of 2023 at Geismar Community Center with over 100 participants in attendance; 75 plus being children & youth.
In December of 2023, the Lord blessed True Vine with a building to be exclusively ours. On December 9, 2023, Pastor Green and members of the Advisory Board officially signed the documentation to secure the present Ascension Parish site, 1305 E. Highway 30, Gonzales, LA. The building was being operated as a personnel office for a local contractor. This required a full conversion of the property into a worship space. However, the people had a mind to work and within 3 weeks, renovations were paid for and completed. Our first service in the new space was held on New Year's Eve Night 2023.
Simultaneous to this historic milestone for the Ascension Church, the Lord began dealing with our Founder, Pastor Green, concerning doing ministry back in his hometown of Reserve, LA. With the Lord's help, our second location True Vine Christian Center - River Parish, was officially established on New Year's Eve 2023 during an 11:30AM worship service.
True Vine's history, while young, is still being written as the days go by. We truly believe God is building something great in the lives of those connected to the ministry and that the absolute BEST is yet to come. True Vine currently is blessed to have exceeded 100 plus members and is continually growing as God gives the increase.

Our effectiveness in ministry comes only as a result of our connection to the "True Vine," Jesus Christ. It is our duty to connect believers to Him through teaching, preaching, leading & ministering. We believe if He his lifted He will draw. As a result of a connection to Him, he calls us to a greater work and purpose. Our mission, in addition to Connecting believers with Christ, will be to help them discover their calling in Christ and subsequently hope they work toward fulfilling the great commission of our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ in their everyday lives.
